Shape building - Age 5+
Using some of the simple shapes or characters in this book, challenge kids to build them out of bricks or blocks. We used Lego to make 2D flat shapes that are fairly realistic (hearts) and then did some quite abstract ones with Magformers.

Colour hunt - Age 2+
Does your child have a favourite colour? Are they working on learning colours? A book hunt is such an easy and fun activity to adapt in a variety of ways. Name a colour and see if you child can find it on every page! If they struggle, you can point to objects and ask, "Is this tree blue?" or point out a few objects first to remind them what the colour is first.
Story telling - Age 3+
If children don't already know the story, each page of this book provides great creative opportunities! Look at one picture and ask, "What do you think happened?" or "Why are feet sticking out of that hole in the ground?". Some funny answers are waiting to come out!

- Use pages from the book as stimuli for oral story telling, individually or in groups
- Early writers could create their own text to go along with each page
- Since the book focuses on colour, it could be used to support an initial lesson on adjectives
