I spy - Age 2+
Any book that has pages filled with details like this one, lends itself really well to an "I spy" game. Depending on the age of your child, give more or less details when asking questions. "Can you spot a girl wearing a red dress?" or "Can you see a pigeon eating grass?". Read about the benefits of "I spy" games by clicking here.

Telling time - Age 4+
Big Ben is such a prominent London landmark which makes a time telling activity a must with this book. Once children know their basic numbers, you can start looking at clock faces and discussing the minute and hour hands. We usually start with just learning whole hours, so one o'clock and four o'clock, etc. If there is time showing on the clock in the book, can the child say the time and make your clock look the same? Pictured here is the Melissa and Doug wooden clock, but you can also make a learning clock quite easily out of paper plates. For DIY instructions from PBS, click HERE.
