We completely must go to London

Invitation to play - Age 1+
This activity could be adapted for any city really. Lay out some visual images from your location, (we used a London calendar as well as a book) and any other play items you think link to the city. We made the River Thames out of tissue paper and threw in a boat. The London Eye was created from Magformers and Big Ben from a 3D puzzles. Everything could be played with as is or broken down and built again. It is an invitation to explore really! |
Resource recommendation - Age 4+
Orchard Toys make some beautiful games and activities that are educational in such a simple way. This London bus game has players drive around the board picking up passengers and dropping them off. It is an adding and subtracting game without kids even knowing it! It reinforces counting skills and number recognition. One of our favourites! |
- Make a list of items to take on a city tour
- Explore the London bus network. Can you read their maps and timetables?
- Create art similar to the illustrator using a mixture of drawings and pictures of textiles
- Go on a tour of your own (or the closest) city
