Colours by Charley HarperThis is a board book, so one would assume it is aimed at babies. It is absolutely stunning and a joy to flip through, if Haper's illustrations are your thing. Most people who buy this book probably buy it a little more for themselves, than for their babies! It isn't really the best book for teaching colours, since it has so many colours on each page presented in a rather intricate way. But it looks fab, so who cares?

Colour matching - Age 2+
Open your book to any page and challenge kids to find other things around you that match. You can easily do this for objects or shapes in the book as well. Cutting pictures cut out of magazines (to match to pages) adds a chance for kids to practise with scissors. Adults or kids could also draw pictures from the book and give to younger siblings to match up (keep it simple with something like a ladybug or turtle).
