I Am Yoga by Susan VerdeThis book (along with I Am Peace) is a wonderful addition to any home with children who feel a lot of big feels and tend to be on the dramatic end of the spectrum. It's probably a good addition to any home to be fair! It is full of beautiful watercolour illustrations that are calming in their own right. Each page shows a yoga move and has simple text to link the move to something in nature. Kids love joining in and trying out each pose.

Freeze Yoga - Age 1+
If your little person knows the game freeze dance (you dance as the music plays and freeze in position when it stops), then try changing it up with some yoga moves. Read the book again to refresh their memory and talk about the names of the poses. Then play a bit of music, have a wiggle and strike a yoga pose when the music ends!

Watercolour painting - Age 6m+
The beautiful watercolour illustrations in the book are sure to inspire little artists. Watercolour paint is also great with kids because it is relatively easy to clean up (if you can keep the 'water' part under control!). Pick a favourite page from the book and prop it up as you paint away.

Recommended resource - Age 3+
Generation Mindful have a set of resources we recommend every parent and teacher get their hands on. They help adults connect with children by teaching them tools to deal with their emotions. We bought a set for our home and loved them so much we became affiliates of theirs. You can start small with the Peacemakers card set, which includes a number of games or invest in the whole set of beautifully designed posters, stickers and lesson plans. Find out more HERE. |
