The Jolly Postman, or Other People's Letters by Allan AhlbergThis classic book is a favourite in most early learning classrooms, but could be brought out for any age really. It mixes in well with fairy tale themes and provides great examples of different types of writing. In the post that characters receive, we see a casual letter, an advertisement, a holiday postcard, a formal letter and an invitation.

Kids love to stick things in holes! Any size or shape object and any size or shape hole. They love it. It is also a great activity for little hands, grasping and pushing. Whether or not you have an actual post box, it isn't hard to make one out of a cardboard box. Older kids can write real letters to post or just practise cutting thicker card into shapes for little ones to 'post' in the mail slot. |
