Requins by Owen DaveyAs the title might indicate to some, this book is in French. Whether you know the language or not, the illustrations inside make this book a must see. Davey's books are generally in English, if you prefer that language. There is quite a lot of information in this, so it is definitely for older readers, but there is still so much younger ones can gain from this beautiful text.

Colouring inspiration - Age 4+
The style of illustrations in this book made us want to try our own version. Parents can draw a large shark outline (of course kids can too) and let kids decorate it 'in Davey style'. Lay the book open to any page and try to create your own beautiful shark. Read about when we originally shared it on Instagram - HERE |
DIY puzzles and letter sounds - Age 2+ Why not take some of your child's creations and make them into puzzles? Cut them into a few strips, depending on age and laminate if you can. For an added feature, break up the name into its sounds and write each sound on a puzzle piece, as we did in the picture to the right. Read about when we originally shared it on Instagram - HERE |
Measure and scale - Age 4+
Want to show off the impressive size of a shark? Get out some sidewalk chalk, a measuring stick and start drawing! You can investigate their length together first (we went with Great Whites - use 4 metres for a 'baby' and 7 metres for an 'adult'). Mark your starting point, then have kids measure out each metre. Younger siblings can join in colouring the massive creature. Then hop inside its belly to see you would fit (yikes!). Read about when we originally shared it on Instagram - HERE |
