The World is Not a Rectangle
by Jeanette Winter

This story does many things. It makes you realise that an architect is an artist too.  It exposes you to the story of female architect Zaha Hadid, who succeeded in a male dominated industry. It also beautifully highlights the life of an Afghani woman at a time when the world rarely hears uplifting stories from this area of the Earth. The illustrator does  a fantastic job showing us Hadid's vision of the world as a young girl and how it translated into her designs. She turned curves and lines from nature into stadiums and auditoriums. No exploration of architecture would be complete without learning about Hadid's journey and brilliant work.
